ALLISON PEASE
Professor Pease received her M.A. and her
Ph.D. in English Literature from New York University.
Her work on nineteenth and twentieth-century British literature and aesthetic theory has appeared in Modernism/Modernity, English Literature in Transition, Victorian Poetry, Criticism, Journal of Gender Studies, Nineteenth-Century Contexts, Nineteenth-Century Literature, The Wordsworth Circle, Palgrave Advances in Oscar Wilde, Reading Wilde/Querying Spaces, and the Oxford Encyclopedia of British Literature. She is also the author of Modernism,
Mass Culture, and the Aesthetics of Obscenity (Cambridge University Press, 2000).
For seven years she served as an editor of the journal Victorian
Literature and Culture. Professor Pease is currently at work on a book about bored women in the twentieth century.
At John Jay Professor Pease serves as Chair of the Gender Studies Committee, Coordinator of the Gender Studies Minor, and Editor of John Jay's Finest.
