MELINDA POWERS
Melinda Powers, Assistant Professor of English, received her B.A.
from Columbia, M.St. and M.A. from the University of Oxford and the
University of Southern California, and her Ph.D. from UCLA (2007). Her teaching and research interests include ancient
literature and its reception, historiography, performance theory, and
especially the performance of Athenian drama on the ancient and
contemporary stage. She has published an article “Dressing-up in
Euripides’ Bacchae and Charles Mee’s Bacchae 2.1,” in Text and
Presentation, an Oxyrhynchus papyrus of Demosthenes XIX, and reviews
on contemporary performances of Greek drama. She is currently working
on developing her dissertation "A Genealogy of Corporeal Culture in
Bacchae" into a book.
