CAROLINE REITZ

Professor Reitz received her M.A. and Ph.D. from Brown University and taught at Queens College, the University of Cincinnati and Saint Louis University before joining John Jay in 2006. Her areas of interest include Victorian Studies, theory of the novel, nationalism, feminist theory, crime and empire. Her work has appeared in Novel, Genre, Carlyle Studies, as well as various encyclopedias. She is the author of Detecting the Nation: Fictions of Detection and the Imperial
Venture
(Ohio State, 2004). Professor Reitz is currently at work on a book about serial publication of the Victorian novel and national identity.
