Notes about e-mail:

1) I will only communicate with John Jay e-mail addresses; if you send it from some other address, it might get lost in the spam...

2) Knowing when I will check my e-mail can help you in timing your work.

I will almost always be on-line during the following hours and will check e-mail:

(Tu. & Th.): 2:00 - 3:00

Tu & Th.): 5:20 - 6:00 p.m.

( M. & W.): 11:00 am - 3:00 pm.

(Friday): Sometime between 9 and 5 for 45 minutes

(weekends): sometime on Sunday or Saturday.

EXTENDED HOURS 8/30 - 9/20

During the first three weeks of class -- when there are generally more questions -- I likely will be on-line and checking e-mail during the following hours:

M - F: at least once between 7 and 10 pm
Sat: at least once for thirty minutes
Sun: at least once for thirty minutes

Often, Tu and Th sometime between 2 and 3 am for thirty minutes


Of course, I may check e-mail more often than this schedule suggests, but this way you will know i
advance when you will get an answer to your e-mail.

If the website isn't functioning in some fashion, please immediately call me during the hours posted above (except for question on electronic reserves, which should be directed to
library reference desk at (212) 237 8246; see help on electronic reserves) or send me an e-mail. If the site's not working, I need to know about it.

Although I prefer to help you with most of your questions by e-mail, there are often questions that can't be answered in that fashion. If you have a question of this sort, please don't hesitate to call me during the hours listed above.

During the weekday, however, you are likely to get a faster response through e-mail.

Contacting the Writing Fellow:

When you need to reach me electronically, I am available by email at: dauslander@earthlink.net.
In general, I check my email often at irregular times. Specifically, I will be sure to check my email Monday through Thursday from 5:00pm to 8:00pm and on Monday and Wednesday mornings from 8:00am to 10:00am. I am unable to keep regular hours on the weekends, but I will be checking my email at various times and will get back to you as soon as possible.

If you do not get an email response from me within 24 hours or if it is an emergency and I do not get back to you immediately by email, you may call me at home at (212) 567-5329 or on my cell phone at (917) 497-7588. Please do call either number before 10 o’clock in the morning or after 10 o’clock at night. Be aware that I am difficult to get hold of by phone on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. In most cases, it is better to contact me by email.
