Critical Inquiry Journal Articles
C.I. Instructions:
Read the articles several times, carrying out the various Critical Inquiry method steps--

1. Read through the article the first time circling unknown words and phrases
2. Read through a second time underlining and making notes in the columns [summaries, comments and questions].
3. In your C.I. Journal: [click here for the C.I. Journal form]

  • write out words and phrases that are confusing. Guess meanings based on how the word is used in context and the dictionary.
  • write out at least five comprehensive questions. Note where the answers are located.
  • choose the most important key words; try to define a few.
  • Write out at least three searching/interpretive and/or searching questions.
  • Write an answer to one of the searching/interpretive questions. It should be at least half a written page.
