Basic Skills Program

Description Program
This program provides students with intensive instruction and tutoring
in reading, writing and math. This program is offered on Fridays
during the semester, in January and June. Applications for programs
are available in room 2100N.
Eligibility Requirements
The CUNY Basic Skills program is open to all students who have not
passed one or more of the CUNY Proficiency Tests.

Description Program
The SEEK Tutoring Center provides tutoring in reading, writing and
mathematics. Tutoring is also provided in any course which students
are enrolled. The Center also offers a number of thematic and
proficiency examination workshops to help students strengthen their
skills to pass the University Wide Assessment Tests.
Eligibility Requirements
The Center only provides services for SEEK students.

Description Program
Tutoring in reading, writing and mathematics: as well as in
introductory and advance level courses in all areas is available to
program participants.
Eligibility Requirements
Students who apply to the program must meet criteria based on academic
and financial need and must also be approved by a counselor. The
maximum number of students who can be tutored is 250 and preference is
given to freshmen.

Description Program
Small group tutoring is available for students whose native language
is other than English.

Students whose native language is not English and/or students who are

Description Program
Individualized computer assisted and small group tutoring available in
reading, writing and Mathematics. Academic preparation workshops to
improve study skills are also offered throughout the semester.
Internet workshops are available in the evenings.
Eligibility Requirements
The Learning Center is available to all College students. However,
only students that are registered with a tutor at the Center are
eligible for services. Internet workshops are available for all
students, faculty and staff.

Description Program

Reading and Study Skills Center

Description Program
The Center is available to students who, are having difficulty keeping
up worth reading assignments. Problems with reading are diagnosed
immediately by a qualified reading laboratory technician.
Eligibility Requirements
The Reading and Study Skills Center is open to students enrolled in
Com. 101 and Com. 102, who have been referred by a professor or who
are self referred.

Description Program
The primary function of the Center is to help upper-level students and
graduate students learn to write papers for their courses. The Center
no longer offers WAT preparation workshops, and students no longer
take the WAT there.
Eligibility Requirements
Open to all students except those who the College requires to attend
other labs. The Center offers special help to English-as-a-second
Language students who have completed English 013 and are in mainstream
higher level courses.
