Claudia Riveron is currently in her tenth year of teaching
in the Sociology Department. She
earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in deviant behavior and Masters degree in
criminal justice from John Jay College of Criminal Justice. She is
currently enrolled in doctoral classes in Film and Media Studies at the New
School.
Professor Riveron's areas of special interest are deviance
and the depiction of the deviant personality in film. She is presently
working on an article "The Films of John Cassavetes, as well as one on the
uses of media in the classroom.
Professor Riveron teaches Social Deviance each
semester. She has also taught juvenile delinquency, criminology and an
experimental course: Sociology 293 - The Counterculture.
