Leona Lee earned her Masters Degree in criminology from
Cambridge University, England and her Ph.D. in criminal justice from Rutgers
University. She has done research in the areas of
juvenile delinquency, juvenile justice, and court dispositions and has published
in the Journal of Criminal Justice, Journal of Crime and Justice,
Juvenile and Family Court Journal, and Youth and Society. Currently, she is studying the relationship
between sensation seeking and deviance using data she collected from a national
survey of over 700 college students. The survey was funded by a PSC-CUNY
grant.. The study is entitled "The
relationship between sensation seeking and deviant behavior across racial and
gender groups." She is working also working on a research proposal (with
Roy Lotz) entitled "A social psychological study of deviance" to be
submitted to the National Science Foundation. She has been teaching at John Jay since 1993. She teaches
criminology, juvenile delinquency, social problems and research methods at the
undergraduate and graduate levels.
