Roy Lotz, who earned his Masters and Ph.D. from the
University of Washington (Seattle), has
been teaching at John Jay since 1978. Previously, he was at Washington State
University in Pullman, Washington (a … forsaken
place). He has taught courses in
juvenile delinquency, criminology, introductory sociology, issues in crime and
justice, research methods, the family, among others. He has done research in juvenile delinquency, theory,
crime, sensation seeking, public opinion, mass communication, baseball,
religion, etc.
Among his other interests are
evolutionary psychology and behavioral genetics. Professor Lotz has
published in Criminology, Administrative Science Quarterly, Sociological
Inquiry, Youth and Society, and others. He has written two books: Juvenile
Delinquency and Juvenile Justice (McGraw-Hill, 1985) and Crime and the
American Press (Praeger, 1991). He is currently working on a third book for
Prentice Hall entitled Youth Crime in America.
