DRA 106: Introduction to Film An introduction to the world's most popular art -- the movie. Exploration of basic terms and techniques will lead to greater appreciation of cinematic forms and styles. Prereq: SPE 113. 3 Credits.
DRA 213: Acting I Acting for beginners. Includes scene study and improvisations dealing with contemporary themes. Practice in the use of voice and body as instruments of expression, improvement of skill, and ease in playing roles. Students are encouraged to participate in the major production. Prereq: SPE 113. 3 Credits.
DRA 214: Acting II Advanced acting class. Focus is on scene study with three or more characters, classic and poetic scripts, external means of characterization, and developing the character over the course of the play. Prereqs: SPE 113 and DRA 213. 3 Credits.
DRA 233: Sociodrama A workshop using theatre exercises, role-play, and improvisation to dramatize relevant social problems. Scenes will explore issues such as racial prejudice, gender bias, alcohol and drugs, teen pregnancy, AIDS, street gangs, relational and family crises, and etc. Culminates in performance for invited guests. Prereq: SPE 113. 3 Credits.
DRA 299: Interactive Sociodrama Workshop Students will develop reflective team exercises, structured improvisations, socio-drama scenarios, and forum theatre based on real case studies of social issues facing youth for performance before campus audiences. Prereqs: SPE 113 and either DRA 233 or permission of instructor. 3 Credits.
DRA 325: Theatre Techs & Crisis Intervention This course will discuss various techniques of crisis intervention while utilizing theatre techniques. Through role-playing, sociodrama, "reflective team exercises", simulation, and adventure based learning exercises, you will be able to "walk in the shoes" of both survivors of crisis as well as the crisis intervention professional. Prereqs: SPE 113, any DRA course, Junior standing or above, or permission of instructor. 3 Credits.
