Professor
Haviland has taught Drawing, Painting and Sculpture classes at John Jay since
1991. She received her BA in Art from Yale University and her MFA in Combined Media
from Hunter College. Professor Haviland’s sculptures and
two-dimensional works have been widely exhibited in public and private venues
in the metropolitan region and nationally.
Her work has been on view locally at the Hudson River Museum, Bronx Museum, Queens Museum, and PepsiCo. She has also been awarded grants and
fellowships from the New York and New Jersey state arts councils, Yaddo,
Skowhegan, and Altos de Chavon, in the Dominican Republic. Permanent commissions can be seen at the College of Staten Island, Armonk Middle School, and Drew University. Her most recent public sculpture, “Trio” is a
nine-foot-tall bronze on permanent view at Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton, NJ.
