The household was the fundamental unit of production and consumption.
In NW Europe the household was usually just the nuclear family.
Children normally left home in their early teen years to work.
Marriage was late, men over 26, women over 23. Children quickly followed marriage.
Servants were commonplace and often an integral part of the family.
