Grammar Explanation

•  Do not repeat the subject of a sentence in pronoun form.
  • Example: My brother just got a job as a police officer.
    Not:
    My brother he just got a job as a police officer.
•  It and there are used to fill in the subject position in a sentence. Note that when using there the verb must agree in number with the noun that follows it.
  • Example: There were only fifteen students in class today.
  • Example: The witness had been less than honest, so it was necessary to investigate each of her claims.
