Exercise 3 - Writing topic sentences

Instructions: Read the following paragraph and type an appropriate topic sentence in the box.

___________________________________________________________. One such incident occurred in Detroit after the community had been notified of a sex offender's current residence. Neighbors of the suspected child molester, who had been convicted of gross indecency, flooded his apartment and posted signs such as "School Kids Watch Out" and "Child Molester Lives Here." In the end, the man was forced to move in order to avoid future persecution. Another similar case is that of Joseph Gallardo, a released child molester. Gallardo had his house torched by vigilante-minded citizens who felt it was their duty to tell the ex-convict he was not wanted. Unfortunately, law enforcement officials are not very sympathetic to a sex offender's claim of harassment or violence. With this adverse treatment by authorities and community, an offender who has done his time in prison may never be able to readjust to a normal life.
