Virtual Conference on Policy Making in Criminal Justice

Spring 1999

The Virtual Conference on Policy Making in Criminal Justice has been developed as part of CRJ U709: Organizational Behavior and Policy Making in Criminal Justice which is a required course in the Doctoral Program in Criminal Justice of the City University of New York. The conference focuses on selected topics, considering each topic within a policy making framework. Each topic is presented in four categories:

• Topic: This is a description of the policy topic selected by the student.
• Media: How does the topic appear in as a public policy issue in the media, and in the popular and political culture?
• Politics: How does the topic appear before policy making entities such as legislatures as they decide on policy responses?
• Agencies: How are policies and programs implemented in public agencies?
• Scholarship: What systematic evidence of results and achievements is available, based on research and evaluation studies?
