The Virtual Conference on Policy Making in Criminal Justice has been developed as part of CRJ U709: Organizational Behavior and Policy Making in Criminal Justice which is a required course in the Doctoral Program in Criminal Justice of the City University of New York. The conference focuses on selected topics, condidering each topic within a policy making framework. Each topic is presented in six categories:
Participants can select a topic and review each aspect of it, or participants can select a particular policy dimension such as "evaluation" and review a series of topics from that particular perspective.
How does the topic emerge as a public policy issue in the media, and in the popular and political culture?
How is the problem assessed by policy analysts, academics, experts, and journalists?
How do policy making entities such as legislatures decide on policy responses?
How are policies and programs implemented?
What systematic evidence of results and achievements is available, based on evaluation studies?
