Vince Maiorino![]() Vince Maiorino teaches the popular courses The Development of Weapons and Air Pistol Shooting. He is also the head rifle coach and comes to John Jay College with over 35 years of rifle coaching experience, including 16 years of collegiate coaching at St. John's University. Maiorino, who holds ratings as an international rifle coach and a certified rifle coach, is a former New York State Champion and competitive shooter himself; he brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the program. He earned his rifle certification at the United States Military Academy at West Point under two world class coaches; Frank Briggs and Web Wright. Maiorino has also trained at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, CO. During his time at St. John's he coached twelve All-Americans and participated in just as many NCAA Rifle Championships. During his first year at John Jay College, the rifle team's ranking in the Mid-Atlantic Rifle Conference elevated by a full division in the Air Rifle discipline and two divisions in the Smallbore (.22 cal.) discipline. During that first year as Head Rifle Coach the rifle team won four awards in the MAC, including most improved team in both air rifle and smallbore disciplines. Additionally, the team established new team records in both disciplines. The rifle team won both the smallbore and air rifle championships in their class at the 2005 Mid-Atlantic Rifle Conference Championships. He holds a B.B.A. from Hofstra University and an M.A. from John Jay College of Criminal Justice.<back |
