A Sampler of Past Comp Exams

Comp questions should not be a mystery to students. So what you see below is a sampling of actual comp exams from the past five years. Certain types of questions in specific categories, such as organization theory or policy analysis, come up again and again. In other areas, such as research methods, questions may differ from test to test only in the case study examples to which you must apply the concepts which the question requires you to describe. While no guarantee exists that any question from the comps below will “repeat,” what is common to ALL the questions is their multiple parts, their requirement that you carefully explain concepts, and the premium put on your ability to apply the concepts to real life situations.
