Faculty

Our faculty is unusually capable. Most of our courses are taught by full time faculty who are among the most important leaders and thinkers in their specializations. We share our core management courses with the Department of Public Management so that you learn how to be an effective manager from a faculty that is arguably the best in any college that specializes in criminal justice and public service.

 
Full Time Faculty
Jeanne Marie Col Jeanne-Marie Col, Ph.D. is the current director of the Section on Emergency and Crisis Management of the American Society for Public Administration and an expert in international emergency mitigation and coordination.
Glenn Corbett Glenn Corbett, M.Eng. coordinates the Undergraduate Fire Sciences Programs. He currently serves on the Fire Code Advisory Council for New Jersey and the Federal Advisory Committee of the National Construction Safety Team. He is the technical editor and a columnist for Fire Engineering Magazine.
Joseph Graham Joseph Graham, JD, MPA, formerly a Lieutenant with the NYPD, spend twenty-two years with the Department where he worked as a discplinary prosecutor in the Department Advocate's Office and as an analyst in the Office of Management Analysis and Planning. He is currently pursuing a PhD in economics. His research interests lie in the development of new quantitative techniques for security and law enforcement management.
Norman Groner Norman Groner, Ph.D. is the director of the program and a well-known expert on human and organizational factors that pertain to fire safety and emergency planning. His holds a doctoral degree in Psychology from the University of Washington. He recently served as an expert advisor to the National Institute of Standards and Technology investigation of building evacuations during the 9-11 WTC attacks.
Charles Jennings Charles Jennings, Ph.D. recently rejoined the faculty after serving as the deputy commissioner for public safety for the City of White Plains. He has conducted research on numerous topics, many related to public policy issues and the fire service. His earned his doctoral degree in City and Regional Planning from Cornell University.
Robert McCrie Robert McCrie, Ph.D. is a widely acknowledged expert on private security, the author of Security Operations Management, editor of Readings in Security Management: Principles and Practices, and the founding editor-in-chief of Security Journal.
Robert Till Robert Till, Ph.D. earned his doctoral degree in fire protection engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Before joining the John Jay Faculty, he was employed by Arup Engineering where he worked on the design of the planned 2nd Avenue subway line. He is currently conducting research on the application of agent-based computer models.
