The Minor in Economics

Your "major" field of study should satisfy your intellectual interests and fit with your career plans. If you complement your major with a Minor in Economics, your college preparation will have a valuable additional dimension -- skills and insights about money and markets, and their influence on policy and management in public agen- cies. If you interview experienced professionals in your field, they will probably tell you of the importance of economic concepts and skills to a successful career -- not just to "move up the career ladder", but also to achieve results and "make a difference" in your work.

To receive the minor, you must complete 18 credits of Economics courses. The following are some suggested course combinations:

You may also substitute other Economics courses, since the requirements for a minor are not as strictly defined as those for a major. Furthermore, since some of these courses are required in several majors, and are concentration options in other majors, you may find that you have almost earned the minor already, and that the additional coursework involved is less than you expected.
