Course Objectives: |
The purpose of this course is to introduce the student to the application of psychology to the criminal and civil justice systems. Special emphasis will be placed on clinical and social applications. Upon completion of the course, the conscientious student should have acquired knowledge of police psychology, risk assessment, expert witness issues, competency to stand trial, insanity pleas, civil commitment, jury selection and decision-making, eyewitness accuracy, custody and access, criminal behavior, and the psychology of corrections. |

Grading: |
20% Exam 1 (September 24) 20% Exam 2 (October 22) 20% Exam 3 (November 26) 20% Assignment (November 21 in class) 20% Final Exam (December 10 from 8:00- 10:30AM) Grades will be rounded to the nearest whole number. The University grading system will be used. |
