Approaching the Short Reading

On the day you take the CPE, you will receive the Writing Assignment for Task I and a short reading. This second reading will be only a page or so in length and will almost certainly be less difficult than the first.

Read the second essay once through in order to get an overall idea of the topic.
Read the writing assignment to get an idea of what to look for on a second reading.
Reread the short reading, underling main points and, especially, any area or point raised by the writing assignment.
Remember that you have two hours to read the short reading and to do the writing assignment.
